TAKE A
STAND ON CRUELTY (S.O.C.)
The TAGV "Take a Stand on Cruelty" (S.O.C.) campaign was
a response to youth
gun violence. It was started by two psychologists who were personally
affected by the school shooting that occurred specifically at Columbine
High School. TAGV was given the rights to the S.O.C Logo and the message.
We have expanded the message
to include all forms of cruelty: local, national and international.
We especially want to bring notice to what Martin Luther King, Jr.
called the three evils: Racism, Materialism, and Militarism. We are
against all Isms, and war. We believe that we must organize across
race, culture class, and context to combat the foundation of the cruel
behavior of today’s budget cuts, that have lead to loss of youth
summer jobs and closing of youth programs. The "S.O.C."
sox and other apparel are symbolic of us taking a firm stand against
all forms of cruelty.
