Awards Given By T.A.G.V

Each year, TAGV gives annual Program Awards, established as a means of recognizing the extra work and contribution made by individuals in the group. Those receiving awards are elected by their peers -- we consider it special to be recognized by your peers for work well done -- and based on private ballot.

Louis D. Brown Teens Against Violence Award
This Award is presented to a T.A.G.V. member who exemplifies the ideology and behavior of the program. S/he must attend school, demonstrate academic excellence, participate in program activities and maintain an attitude of non-violence. The Award was named after Louis D. Brown, a T.A.G.V. youth who died in the line of duty as a promoter of Peace and Justice. Louis was killed on his way to a T.A.G.V. meeting on December 20, 1993.

Parents Against Gang Violence Award
The P.A.G.V. Award is presented to a P.A.G.V. parent who supports the mission of the program by attending parent meetings and events. The Award is also for the parent's promotion of Peace and Justice in their home and personal life.

Children Against Gang Violence Award
The C.A.G.V. Award is presented to the C.A.G.V. child who, like a T.A.G.V youth, exemplifies the ideology and philosophy of the program through his or her behavior. S/he must attend school and do the best they can academically. They must also maintain an attitude and behavior of non-violence while promoting peace and justice.

T.A.G.V. Community Organization Peace Award This Award is given to a community organization -- judged by the T.A.G.V members -- which has been supportive of T.A.G.V.'s program, goals and mission. They work with us collaboratively to better our community by promoting Peace and Justice or similar goals.
